Check The Poles:

It is advisable that you check your poles regularly, for any dents in the poles. Trekking poles with dents tend to stick together and this can cause you to experience some issues. Just check and see if the poles have been bent but in which case, you can get the parts replaced with ease. It is not advisable to hit stones or any heavy objects with the poles for obvious reasons. Just take the poles apart and roll out the various sections across a flat table. That should enable you to determine if any of the parts are damaged.

Check The Expander:

You may want to check the expander of your trekking pole to ensure that it continues to function smoothly. Expanders should function correctly when reassembled and it is advisable to check out the same before you head out on a trek with these poles.

Leki Poles, Check For White Powder:

If you happen to store your poles in wet conditions, then they may undergo corrosion. In addition to the same, there may also have a deposit if aluminum oxide, on the inside of the poles due to wet storage. There is no need to use any lubricants – all you need is gentle detergent and warm water and that should do the trick and your poles should soon be free of aluminum oxide.
